Everyone knows the Porsche brand. Adjectives that come to mind include luxurious, innovative, and unique—qualities that also define the new 60,000-square-foot Gen 5 Porsche Center in Nashua, New Hampshire, which opened this summer.
Built from the ground up by NorthPoint Construction Management, the Gen 5 Porsche Center is more than a dealership. It’s a destination for Porsche enthusiasts across New England and beyond.
Macy Industries was proud to contribute to such a high-profile project. Meeting super-tight deadlines and solving complex challenges on the fly, our team delivered custom stainless steel fabrication that matched the quality and precision expected of a brand like Porsche.
Macy’s team was initially brought in to provide stainless steel fabrication for one problem, but we were able to offer solutions for several other challenges that cropped up. Here’s an overview of what we delivered.
Access Panel Shrouds
Some access panels were visible in high-traffic areas, creating a distraction in the otherwise sleek environment. Macy designed and fabricated 16-gauge polished #4 stainless steel shrouds to encapsulate the panels. Each piece was plasma-cut, formed, welded, polished, and installed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding finishes.
Floor Cover Plates
Factory-supplied floor plates weren’t flush with the floor, creating a potential trip hazard. We prototyped several solutions, shared them with the general contractor and owner, made adjustments based on their feedback, and ultimately landed on the perfect solution.
From there, we fabricated and installed 33 polished stainless steel cover plates in three different sizes. The result? A clean, flush fit without the need to remove or reset the existing boxes that were set in concrete.
Column Base Rings
The Porsche Center had 24 support columns of various sizes that needed a more finished appearance where they met the tile floor. The client asked to have the bottom two inches of each column wrapped in stainless steel.
Our team took precise field measurements so we could fabricate each one individually to its proper circumference. Back in our shop, we sheared, rolled, and polished. Then, we installed the custom column base rings and welded the seams on-site, creating a sharp, professional transition from column to tiled floor.
Stainless Steel Diamond Plates
The transition between tile and concrete under multiple overhead doors required both durability (think harsh New England weather) and visual consistency. We fabricated and installed stainless steel diamond plates in varying thicknesses in these areas and finished each plate with black powder coating to align with Porsche’s sophisticated brand aesthetic.
